Challenge Class 'The single best class, ever, period.' June 17, 18 and 19 - 2016 - Calgary
Friday evening | June 17th - 6 to 10 pm We will focus on a specific genre, such as romantic comedy. Learn the rules of the genre, and the acting style required for it. Then we'll spitball story ideas, and 'write' the script so you can get a grip on script and story. If you don't understand the script, you can't perform the script. Then, we'll review your 'sell', and do some basic improve on camera to refine it.
Saturday | June 18th - 9 to 6 We will work from one representative movie, such as Love Actually. Everyone will be given the same sides to learn cold and fast using Peter's technique. Then we go to camera to explore and identify your signature appeal. Then we award the role to one male and one female actor. Then everyone will be cast in other roles from the film, and be given sides to learn cold and fast. Shoot. Compare with the original actor's performance in the film to see what you missed, and what you did better.
Sunday afternoon | June 19th - 1 to 6 pm Now we do the audition. Prep in the morning on your own. Come into the room and audition for the part you've already played now that you know how to do it, so you can focus on all the other stuff. Your classmates (now producers and directors) will challenge you. See what it really takes to do a great audition. Compare the results again against the original actor. Final polish, Q&A and career counselling.
